Blackberry Mule Cocktail

One of my favorite drinks to have on a Friday (oh who am I kidding, really any day of the week) is a Moscow mule. While you can’t beat the classic mule, every now and then it is fun to switch it up a bit. This mule incorporates blackberries and mint. Tastes delicious and such a pretty color too!

INGREDIENTS

Blackberry Mule
  • 6 blackberries, plus 2 more for garnish
  • 6 fresh mint leaves, plus two sprigs for garnish
  • 3 ounces vodka
  • 2 teaspoons cassis
  • juice of 1/2 lime
  • 1 can of ginger beer

INSTRUCTIONS

In a large shaker, muddle together the 6 blackberries and 6 mint leaves. Add the vodka, cassis and lime juice. Add several cubes of ice to the shaker and with the lid securely fitted, shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds. Strain the liquid into two low ball glasses or copper mule mugs. Add a few cubes of ice to each glass, top with ginger beer and garnish with a blackberry and sprig of mint. Enjoy!

COOK'S TIPS

Although the Moscow mule traditionally is served in a copper mug, I recommend serving this variation in a clear glass to show off the gorgeous color of the muddled blackberry.
