Decorated Rice Krispies Eggs Recipe

Prep Time Cook Time Serves
1h 3m about 20 eggs

These Rice Krispies eggs are lots of fun to make with the kids…and they taste great!

INGREDIENTS

For the eggs:
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 10 ounces marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
For the decoration:
  • 14 ounces white chocolate
  • 7 ounces milk chocolate
  • gel food coloring

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Rice Krispies mixture as directed on the cereal box. Microwave the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave-safe bowl on high for 3 minutes. Stir once halfway through. Add the cereal and stir to evenly combine.

Instead of pressing the mixture into a pan, shape into egg-like forms.

Break the white chocolate into small cubes and place in a large heat-proof bowl. Set the bowl over a pot of barely simmering water and leave to melt. Stirring occasionally. Once the white chocolate has melted, divide it between several smaller bowls and add a different color to each. Using whatever colors you (or the kids!) want.

Melt the milk chocolate in the same way as you did the white chocolate.

Once you have your melted and colored chocolate, start decorating! You can put the melted chocolate into small ziploc bags and snip the corner if you want to “pipe” the chocolate onto the eggs or just use small spoons and drizzle.

Place decorated eggs onto a wire rack to dry. Enjoy!
