Mendiants are very simple to make and are traditionally found at Christmastime here in France. I make them all year round, particularly at the changing of the seasons when I am clearing out the pantry and find all those half bags of dried fruits and nuts. These little treats are a great way to use those up. Best part – packaged in a little bag and tied up with ribbon they make a great hostess gift.

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 ounces white chocolate, roughly chopped
  • dried cranberries
  • raisins
  • dried apricots
  • walnuts
  • pistachios, finely chopped

INSTRUCTIONS

Line a baking tray with a silicone mat or parchment paper.

Melt the white chocolate in a heat-proof bowl set over a pot of simmering water.

Once completely melted, remove the bowl of chocolate from the heat and leave to cool slightly, about five minutes. Drop heaping teaspoons of melted chocolate onto your prepared tray. Sprinkle each round of melted chocolate with a mix of the fruit and nuts. Once finished, chill the tray in the fridge for at least an hour. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
